Meh, everybody else was blogging about it, so I figured I would too 😛
You mean Twitter AND FaceBook?!?! The Social Web Weeps!
It seems that Twitter is currently down – Not only that, but the reason for the popular social site going offline is because of an ongoing DDoS attack, which has been confirmed by the Twitter staff on their blog…What is a Denial of Service attack you ask? Ask wiki🙂 – but yea, it can get pretty nasty.
Damn Shame. I was trying to get my tweet on when it happened.
As you know, when Twitter ain’t behaving, most go over to Facebook to hang out for a little while…but guess what, Facebook has been suffering too. It’s probably due to all that Twitter traffic redirecting there…
Even More Sites Having Issues With DDoS Attacks
UPDATE: As the news developed, it seems that numerous sites were hit by a DoS and not just twitter – Facebook has reported that their problems also stemmed from a DDoS attack, as well as LiveJournal, which confirmed they too were in an ongoing battle.
Per some quick fingered wikipedia editor: “On August 6th, 2009 several social networking sites, including Twitter, Facebook, Livejournal, and Google blogging pages were hit by DDoS attacks. Although Google came through with only minor set-backs, these attacks left Twitter crippled for hours and Facebook did eventually restore service although some users still experienced trouble.”
So this begs the question: Just who is trying to cripple the social net…and WHY? Some believe it’s from across seas – some pointing to Iran (see priors) and some pointing to the current Russia/Georgia conflict – and a few other theories.
Honestly, DDoS attacks are EXTREMELY common, and can be done by damn near anyone – what I find a little scary about this one is the size and scope of it – think about it – Twitter was hit the hardest. Some use Twitter as the core or an integral aspect of their businesses these days, as well as Facebook. What happens to a twitter dependent business…when there is no Twitter?
UDATE 2: Twitter adds some words to the situation here on their Twitter blog
CNet says that it might just well be connected to the Russia/Georgia thing mentioned above in a news post – Supposedly, this could have possibly all been done to target one person…
Anyway, the speculation continues – as usual, here are some links for ya if you just don’t wanna take my word for it:)

Horizon Group Management v. Bonnen , No.2009L008675 ( Ill. Cir. Ct. July20, 2009), was a libel suit brought by Horizon Realty Group, a Chicago real estate management company, against one of its former tenants, Amanda Bonnen, in Cook County Circuit Court.
Seems some chick in Chicago tweeted a semi negative review about the apartment she was staying in…and the realty company that owns said building is trying to sue her…for $50,000!!!!!
And you know the greatest part? A quote from the realty company: “We’re a sue first, ask questions later kind of an organization”
I think that deserves a very hearty and heartfelt What The Fuck?!?!?!?
I hope this company loses all clients, share, customers etc behind this idiotic shit. I’m pretty sure that they are causing themselves much more than 50k worth of damage with this ill advised lawsuit…that’s probably gonna get thrown out by the judge…if there’s any justice in the country…
…well…anyway, if there is any fairness in our…wait…nevermind – I’ll just think good thoughts and hope for the best for this woman.

RT @abonnen – Who said sleeping in a moldy apartment was bad for you? Horizon realty thinks it’s okay.
This is a response to a question asked by a friend on FaceBook
“Ladies, if you like a guy do you make the first move or wait until he moves on you?”
Me: Don’t wait too long – that’s a mistake that women seem to make a lot – some dudes just won’t take that first step until YOU let him know that you’re feeling him some sort of way – that’s why I like bold women – just put it out there in the air ya know, and let him make a decision from there.
However, someone else said something that I didn’t particularly agree with:
Not Me: Actually, the BIG thing that seperates men and women is called common sense. Some men just don’t have any. If a woman is interested, she will let you know in her own way. It may be a glance, a smile, a certain look. She doesn’t always have to get in your face. If you aren’t swift enough to catch on, then like I sad…she needs to keep it moving. men like the chase, in case you didn’t know. It’s your nature. But some men just don’t know it yet. When they grow up to be REAL men, they will.
I left out some inbetween posts for the sake of brevity – I am posting this here because my response was too long to fit on FaceBook and I didn’t wanna post it in sections…so here it is:
Me: @MH It’s not common sense that separates men from women 😛 trust me, just as many men lack it as women – and I can point to a trillion examples of women acting like they have no sense at all. But that goes back to the very nature of what makes a man a man and a woman a woman – but that’s a case for another day:)
And I didn’t wanna turn Saidah’s post into a debate – but I can’t just let those words slide Ms. Herndon – You are drawing a generalization about men that just isn’t true nor right – you are assuming that if we can’t catch onto super subtle hints, then we are not only stupid, but not deserving of said attention to begin with. That’s just harsh – you fail to take into account the human aspect of the whole thing. ie – what if the chick is just a flirt, or god forbid, a tease – what if the dude is shy – what if, what if, what if – the point is, unless one or the other is somewhat blatant, it stands the chance of having all those gestures turning into mixed and confusing symbols on both sides – Not all men like the chase – it’s 2009 – some of US might wanna be chased 😛
According to you, a woman can come to a spot, give a nigga a wink, and he, being a grown up “real” man, will not only get the hint, but immediately move on it. That scenario in and of itself can speak volumes about both parties involved :)) and you’re right, sometimes it works like that – but it doesn’t always, because human beings have different thoughts, different ways of doing things, different senses of propriety etc – I think that what I’m saying is, you are speaking only for yourself in your statement and no one else.
On top of that, there are THREE dudes saying the opposite of you right here on this very thread!!! What the fuck woman?!?!?!?
…damn…I like you 😛
Me: @SK – sorry love, this was the first thing I saw when I log on at work today – didn’t mean to hijack your post 😉 but I haven’t been writing in a while…and this is what happens – think I might blog about this subject…then again, I think I just did =)
The point is, people are different. Don’t wait for somebody to make a move. If you’re interested, take the initiative!
“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad.
You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”
This post was originally for Tim Burton’s 2010 Alice in Wonderland movie. Since then, that movie has come and gone, and even spawned a sequel. And while I was excited about this one…I was ultimately disappointed by it. But that’s me. Below you will find a lot more information on Alice in Wonderland in general. Enjoy.

…Who is this Alice Character?
If, for some reason, you don’t know what Alice in Wonderland is, or is about…then, well, I don’t know. Where did your childhood go? It’s basically a tale of fantasy and whimsy that has influenced the world and the people in it for over a century now. If you’re really unsure, just try the Wikipedia link. It will tell you everything you need to know, and then some.
For writer’s and other artistic types, Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a treasure trove of ideas and inspiration, no matter what medium you create in. It’s also highly quotable and equally misquoted.

This is Only Just the Beginning
None of this really scratches the surface of what Alice and her adventures in Wonderland has done for the imaginations and enjoyment of people around the planet. So if you’re a purist, please forgive me.
I was thinking about my hair. I have very nappy, kinky, unruly hair. There isn’t much I can do with it but have it braided or cut off. Personally, I don’t mind either option, but currently, I would rather have it than cut it. However, many people, especially women, presume to make that decision for me. They usually tell me to cut it. These are their arguments for cutting my hair: It will make me look more pleasing to the eye – It will make me look more professional – a low-cut or shaved head is a sign of maturity – and several variations thereof.
As I said before, I do not have a problem with cutting my hair – but I’m not ready to do it yet. I have that particular action saved for a specific event;) What troubles me about the above-mentioned reasoning is this: I am not my hair, nor am I the person that would cut my hair to please others. I don’t have much of it, but I LOVE my nappy ass head. I like that I have natural, kinky, black hair. I like the clouds that it forms above my thoughts.
No matter what my hair looks like, whether it’s there or not…I am still me. My hair is naturally beautiful to me in its raw untouched form. Anything else is artificial. Well, not artificial per se, I don’t mind having something done to my hair and I certainly appreciate a nice hairdo on others, but some people take it to the extreme. Anything you do with your hair should be a personal choice and not to please another human being (unless that is your occupation or something). It bothers me that someone would fail to get a job, lose out on love, or even become some sort of outcast just off how their hair looks.
People are always looking for an excuse to judge, the shit is sickening. Everybody wants everybody else to conform to what they personally believe to be some imagined norm. My pops spit me out the tube and my moms pushed me out the womb, this is the hair I came with. I might wanna do things to it now and then, but I’ll be damned if I do it to please YOU!
Yea, sometimes it looks a lil crazy, but it’s okay by me:)

It seems that these people were taking their own original music and having the tracks uploaded to iTunes and Amazon and then using stolen credit cards to buy their own tracks. Why? So they can benefit from the royalties!
Certainly some criminal shit, but I must say, it was a good idea, and very good use of stolen credit card numbers.
But, it looks like the jig is up and people are being arrested…and that’s all she wrote.

Amazon.com: My Bloody Valentine 3D (Two-disc special edition) : Jensen Ackles, Jaime King, Kerr Smith, Patrick Lussier: Movies & TV
It had dawned on me just the other day that I had never seen a 3D movie in the theatres before. I was still under the impression that 3D movies rendered everything a shade of red and blue and were pointless to see. I told a friend about this, and the next day she suggested that we go see My Bloody Valentine 3D.
I had no intention of ever seeing this movie as it looked like, from the previews, so much junk. My friend told me the people at her job were saying the movie wasn’t “all that” but the 3-D effects were good and worth the price of admission.
Off to the Theatre to See My Bloody Valentine 3D
My Bloody Valentine 3D is a remake of the original My Bloody Valentine, which was a 1981 Canadian slasher flick with a large cult following. Mostly the names and overall storyline are kept intact with only a few differences.
The movie opened on January 16, 2009, and I went to see it with a friend on January 23. I was surprised to see that the line for this movie was literally out the door. The theatre was packed with couples and teenagers. Even before we got in, there were several young teenagers attempting to get me to buy tickets for them, which I tried to do, before I learned the ticket prices were 2.5 dollars extra for 3D movies (the poor kids didn’t give me enough money). This upset me, but I paid anyway then it was off to stand in another long line to get into the movie. There was another couple of teens that asked me if they were checking ID, and if they were, could I say they were with me. I agreed to this and off we went.
Our showing was packed, just about every seat filled. The previews weren’t much to talk about except some new action flick that I forget the name of and my first look at the preview of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline, which I did not know was even in production. But all right, let’s talk about this here movie.
The Setup and the Plot of My Bloody Valentine 3D
It’s a slasher film, are you really worried about the plot? I know that I am, I need a plot, something, anything…and this movie did have one. It wasn’t even a bad one…that is, until the movie’s “twist” ending, which throws the whole plot out of the window and into the garbage. A sleepy mining town is struck by tragedy when a mining accident results in a cave-in, killing several mine workers. Oddly enough, it’s found that the miners were not killed in the cave-in, but by what looked to be a pickaxe to their heads. Harry Warden is blamed for the murders, but he’s in a coma. The mine owner’s son, Tom Hanniger, is blamed for the cave-in.
A year later Harry wakes from his coma and heads directly back to the mine, where there is a teenage mine party going on…you should be able to guess what happens next.
The bulk of the movie takes place ten years after that event when everybody thinks it’s all over and just a messed up memory. Of course, we know that ain’t true. There is more going on, but unless you plan to actually see the film, you shouldn’t even wonder about it.
The Characters of My Bloody Valentine 3D
The characters in this movie are not as shallow as you would think, but they’re still a bit one-dimensional. They are given mediocre dialogue but play their roles well within the confines of the script they were given…I guess. Here is the main character list, taken from Wikipedia:
Jensen Ackles (of Supernatural fame) as Tom Hanniger
Jensen does a good job as Tom, somewhat dark and brooding. Jaime does a good job as Sarah, a little confused about her feelings but sure of her convictions. Kerr plays a good Axel. These are the three that stand out (and why not, they are the main characters), but their performances are still “blah”. And so is everybody else’s. For all the politically correct folk out there, there is one black character, played by the serious looking Edi Gathegi, and no, he doesn’t die. The performances are just making it in this film, but most people don’t attend a slasher film for star-studded quality acting anyway.
The 3-D aspects of the film were a lot better than I thought they would be going in. As an avid movie watcher, I am usually unmoved by shock moments and scary, atmospheric scores. I’m also unmoved by most of the blood and gore in most movies. The added 3D elements did make quite a few people in the crowded theatre jump. And a lot of the stylized, bloody, horrific violence did make some people cringe and gasp. For me, it was just more of the same stuff we’ve been seeing in these types of films for the last decade. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it made the film seem as if it lacked substance.
The 3D is achieved through a technology called Real D. I could immediately see practical uses for it the moment I put on my glasses. A note about the glasses, they hurt. They hurt my eyes, they hurt my ears and they hurt my pride (they were dorky looking). This movie could have done without them, but then, it probably wouldn’t have gotten as many seats filled.
Overall, the movie was terrible, the acting was bad, the story was somewhat entertaining until the end when it became stupid (yes, whatever writer was involved in that mess should be slapped). However, with that being said, the movie is still engaging, in the way that bad B-movies are. So go ahead, if you got nothing better to do and somebody to go with, then by all means, pay your ticket price, pick up your 3D glasses and have a look.

Sunday, August 31 2008 – 14:41
Most of y’all would still consider this Saturday night, but…yea…I don’t know 🙂
Silenciobarnes, more bored than a wood carver’s barn
Heineken and tobacco but he wish he had traum
Late night steady wishing for the following morn
Steady living but he wish he had more –
I’m kinda horny too, daydreams of fucking you raw
I’ll assume that you know who you are
About to go to the store
Red Bull or a Monster of course
I’m a need it when I stay up till dawn
My arteries clogged my lungs in a fog
I’m a mess, need a straight jacket hand cuffs and muzzle just to silence the god
– This is Silence the God
And the boredom so thick you can cut it like a blade through the heart
True story I feel desperate and loss
I went to the bar with a twenty dollar bill for a drink and a talk
Just to chill, but I feel strange in these parts and unwelcome
Like a ghost in a house or a drunk in a park
All I need is some weed and a chick with a car
And a ass and a brain and original thoughts
Come and braid my hair or lets take us a walk
Or tell me about your life and the battles you fought
I’m sicker than a necrophile raping a corpse
Yet sweeter than the love that you lost
Bitter like the taste of a love that is forced
Or the feel of a lovers remorse
I get’s blunted of course
And can deal with both sides of the force
I can build with the best but my paper is short
So I’m a build me a nest and pray to I for support
Glory be as I travel my course, now let’s get it
SilencioBarnes – I wanna shout out all my social networking friends and those of you that support me and let me know that you feeling the kid. I appreciate the love.
To all my haters, if any of you exist, continue doing what you doing.
To all of you that don’t like me or got some sort of problem with me, for whatever reason…fuck you, eat a dick.
