About “Which Path”
“Which Path” is composed of some very old lyrics. I rewrote a bit of it for uniformity after recording the original and not liking how it meandered. I changed the name as well. Originally it was called “Word Life,” and the chorus was very different. I will add some of the original lyrics at the bottom of the post for comparison.
This song is meant to convey the thought process of an individual as they struggle with what they feel their life is about. Much like the song “3Interpretations“, it’s told from different viewpoints, all of which are from the same environment…if you see what I’m saying.
This song was recorded with an M-Audio Nova microphone through a ART Tube MP Studio V3 pre-amp. My audio interface (sound card) is an M-Audio Audiophile 2496. The vocals were recorded at SB Studios (my room:), in the middle of it with all the windows closed. My DAW is Adobe Audtion and I used a couple of VST’s for general effects. You can look for all this stuff on Amazon as well as various other places.
The beat is called “Murda in da 1st” and was produced by Mr. Smiff
Which Path Lyrics
Sometimes I feel like my life is a steel cage trap
And the thought makes my earth feel flat,
I thirst to be gone – but in the end I’ll be right back
You can’t escape need or flee life’s tax – Sometimes it be’s like that
Cuz Hell is only earth – heaven comes when you bleed
– And some will claim to love you if you got what they need
That’s why I live my life as I see fit fuck a good deed
Unless it benefits me my fam and unborn seed
I got love for my niggas and respect for they’re pride
But they wait until it’s too late to put it aside
They wanna embrace the dark when they should see the light
They wanna retrace the chalk line to fit they demise
And from these bitter thoughts they tell me hope for best
Or just wait until my lifetime that’s coming up next
Fuck that I gotta do what I need to see checks
If that include risk or seeing my death?…sometimes it be’s like that
It’s hard to see that thing called change
When that change only brings more pain
Some will do crime
Some will get high
You must get by
And that’s just life
We will survive
It’s hard to see that thing called change
When that change only brings more pain
Some will do time
Some just won’t try
Some live all die
And that’s just life
We will survive
Heard a shot and everybody running
Seen my nigga leaking fluids yo the shit was stunning
In his hand was the gat that he should’ve bust back
He stumbling bloody tracks and his body numbing
His death awakened by another man’s hatred
For any case you could end up in that wooden casing
Fuck the reason you got a date with death in the end you leaving
Save your breath when you bleeding and your body’s freezing
Last man standing on the battlefield breathing?
Crash landed from the womb for no apparent reason?
The soul can never die it’s just energy releasing
So ride or die in the end you all eye seeing
So break the chains off your mind – stop watching clocks
Cause time waits for no man it’s you that it’ll stop
Play the stocks Play the block Play robbers and cops
Roll over, play dead – or aim for the top – whatever
It’s hard to see that thing called change
When that change only brings more pain
Some will do crime
Some will get high
You must get by
And that’s just life
We will survive
It’s hard to see that thing called change
When that change only brings more pain
Some will do time
Some just won’t try
Some live all die
And that’s just life
We will survive
Invisible gods you throw your praises to ‘em
And hope the nonexistent save you when you touch ruin
My thoughts congruent harmonize with the streets influence
Amplified through this weed and music
Like a general I should see nothing but saluting
Might as well be the shooter if somebody’s gotta do it
When the gauge leaves you ruined and your flesh turns to fluid
What happens after that niggas still be disputing
Maybe heaven maybe hell but the final solution
We define ourselves because our minds do the choosing
Heaven here on earth that’s the goal I’m pursuing
I’d rather have it now so may the god’s bless my movements
Cause ‘til I’m in the dirt I won’t know what the truth is
So in the here and now I’m gone follow my blueprint
Laid out and played out designed with this music in mind
You think I’m a lose it you stupid
Original Which Path Lyrics
Here are the original lyrics, which are also rewritten. The original, original lyrics that I wrote in trade school are lost in time somewhere 🙁
Word Life
That nigga Silence raised where the violence be at
I’m from the Ville where every house a grave, loving the fact
That when a nigga dies he comes alive but stays in this trap
Open your eyes to the distant skies and never come back
Because hell is only earth and heaven comes when you bleed
And your man is gonna be your man as long as he needs
That’s why I live my life as I see fit fuck a good deed
Unless it benefits me my man and unborn seed
I got love for my niggas and that love never dies
It just changes into hate but my eyes never cried
My tears were never born so they don’t exist in this life
Kiss of the knife your last wish granted tonight
Spill your blood on the street congeals thick like Yvette
I guess you’ll see me in your lifetime that’s coming up next
The bullet effect my thought too deep filed like index
The greater the risk the more profit made in the end
For every life there’s a price you can take it in blood
You can bang for the love or you can bang for the cause
Hang your thought on a cross and fill your body with slugs
Then ask the lord to forgive all the sins that I’ve done (please forgive me)
You can live or you can die – choose the right path
With either one you can lose son it’s all up to chance
I sit and stare at the mirror watch myself staring back
In my future all I see is a glimpse of my past
Word Life
Heard a shot and everybody running
Seen my nigga leaking fluids yo the shit was stunning
In his hand was the gat that he should’ve bust back
He stumbling bloody tracks and his body numbing
His death awakened by another man’s hatred
For any case you could end up in that wooden casing
Fuck the reason you got a date with death in the end you leaving

So ride or die in the end you all eye seeing
So break the chains off your mind and stop watching clocks
Cause time waits for no man it’s you that it’ll stop
Scared to pop never that I’ll put two in your knot
You better hope that in your next life you’re running the block
You pay the price or your death you can take it in blood
You can bang for the cause or you can bang for the love
Hang your hope from a cross and fill your body with slugs
Then ask the lord to forgive all the sins that I’ve done (please forgive me)
You can die or you can live – choose the right path
With either one you can lose son it’s all up to chance
I sit and stare at the mirror watch myself watching back
Scared of nothing but the future that’s reflecting my past

Put something in your brain leave you thirty years recouping
When I’m pumping out the gauge and your flesh turn to fluids

Have you ever woke in the night and it’s pitch black
You get up, maybe to go to the bathroom or to go to the kitchen
And you reach to flick on the hall or bathroom light
…but it’s not there
You swipe your hand up and down the wall
And for a split second, you think that maybe, just maybe it’s disappeared
You may panic a little, because after all, it’s dark
And you can’t find the light
But, eventually you do. Maybe you were aiming too high or too low
Or in the darkness, you were just reaching towards the wrong spot
Life
Is sort of like that.
