To Hear
A murmur ran through the crowd.
From your lips, whispers,
“We should leave.”
We should breathe.
Suffocated by the press
of people and smoke,
filtered through empty minds.
“We can make it back in time,”
you said quietly to my ear.
We can be as one,
or two, together.
Pressed between car door
and car door, and backseat.
“…,” I said,
as your lips
lightly touch lobe.
Afterwards, we laughed
Then, we loved
