Had a conversation on Facebook about how I’ve posted whole essays there, but haven’t posted anything to my blog. The person who I was talking to, Niels, suggested that I just add text here and worry about all the background processes later. To consider them as editing, but let the raw text stand. So, I’ll make an effort to do that, since this blog hasn’t gotten much love from me in quite a while. I keep planning all this stuff for it…and then I get lazy. I never know what to put here. So I guess I’ll just start […]
Should I just post raw thoughts?
Resources for Aiding the Philippines and Typhoon Victims
By now, you should be well aware of what’s going on in the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda / Haiyan. Amongst the Satyrs

Amongst the Satyrs This rap music track started as an impromptu text freestyle on Facebook last year – It came after a long time of me not writing anything new and I was a little surprised by it. The rhyme scheme and patterns were not typical of me, most notably repeated rhymes (something I always hated!). But I found that this style is what came out of me naturally…I suppose I’ve changed. I like this track because of the way it’s worded. The style of it has carried over to everything I’ve written since. As usual, I can’t really speak […]

"Our" Sacrifice

“Our” Sacrifice poetry by Silencio Barnes She demanded that I cut open my shell and let drip my burning soul onto her frigid altar The steam, she said, that arises from such a conflagration would rekindle that imaginary, burning, thing that we thought we had lost so long ago She hands me the knife, for no sacrifice is sacred unless done by one’s own hand We both held our breath as I raised the blade to Our neck And once again, as before the sharp edge pierces only her And she bleeds And I, with impassive serenity, walk away, as […]

SB Retro: Balancing My Essence (StreetsTurnRed)
This retro track is really a mashup of two different little freestyles of mines. I broke em up and changed/rewrote four bars into a chorus. As usual, my language, especially in the first verse, should be your biggest clue that this is indeed an old track 🙂 As far as my rap music goes, this tracks has more of a hood feel to it. You know, that mix of gunspeak, braggadocio and that all important dash of ignorance 🙂 The beat has changed a few times as I was never quite satisfied with how it sounded. I eventually settled on […]

SB Retro: Vagrant Story – PlaceWhereYouDie

Vagrant Story (Place Where You Die) SB Retro: Vagrant Story (PlaceWhereYouDie) by SilencioBarnes Rap and Hip Hop Music by SilencioBarnes – unsorted and various About Vagrant Story (Place Where You Die) Yup, another old retro track. Vagrant Story is yet another song about the hood…more or less 🙂 As far as any of my rap music goes, you can tell this one is old just by the language I use. I recorded to the beat of the Money, Cash, Hoes song by Jay-Z (featuring DMX and produced by Swizz Beats) from his Hard Knock Life album. The title comes from an […]

SB Retro: FeelinDaHigh
SB Retro: FeelinDaHigh Another old track. This song is a little more personal than my usual rap music fare. I’ve had it floating around for a while along with others. This one is called FeelinDaHigh or Feeling the High depending on how I’m feeling 🙂 A previous fan of this song (in the past) told me he didn’t like this version because I cleaned it up too much. His reasoning was that I washed out too much of the pain that was in the original track by doing that. I think his nostalgia is just talking. I’ll add the original […]

SB Retro: Spit Bombs

SB Retro: Spit Bombs About the Song “Spit Bombs” Spit Bombs is just a really old track I did back in the day. For some reason, to this day, many still consider it some of my best stuff despite it only really being something of a freestyle. Many will recognize the beat from Missy’s Hot Boyz remix featuring Nas (Eve and Q-Tip too). As far as my rap music goes, I do think the lyrics of this track are a good example of just what my style was about at the time. Lyrics to “Spit Bombs” Every time I speak on, […]

Dear Ignorance
Dear Ignorance, Without going into detail Without sounding feeble We shall say the fact remains that We are different people You ignore my words as if my Slang makes me less equal So what makes you believe that I Would give you a sequel Goodbye, adieu, we live and die Good day, I say, goodbye Without sounding too contentious You are too relentless In your actions, deeds and thoughts Your rationale is senseless You raise flags of moral right But only you bear witness I will not bow, nor salute nor Make your faults my mistress Goodbye, adieu, we live […]

1/2Remembered Works and Social Statuses

Blogging My Interests I consume a ton of media. I mean…like a hell of a lot. Movies, books, television shows, podcasts, anime and various other things. The problem is, I always want to write about them, but never have the time. Many times, I will even start an article but never finish it. So it just sits there, but when I’m ready to work on it, I find that I no longer remember a lot about it other than my general impression. As an example, this site has many articles that have sat around, some for years, and they are […]
