How Things Are Going in my Hometown – North Amityville, NY 11701 – June 2010

I was curious as to what has been going on recently in and around my hometown of North Amityville, NY – Ya know, it’s been a while since I visited to see family and old friends. So I hit the news sites to see…and ya know what I saw? Nothing new. Also, this is all recent June 2010 news I believe.

Well, I did find out some interesting things were happening at the Sunrise Mall


On June 16, a Westbury woman was arrested at JC Penney at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.
On June 16, a Levittown woman was arrested at JC Penney at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.
On June 17, a Lindenhurst woman was arrested at JC Penney, at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.
On June 17, a Hicksville woman was arrested at JC Penney, at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.
On June 17, a Babylon woman was arrested at JC Penney, at the Sunrise Mall and charged with Petit Larceny.

Suffolk Legislature OKs gun-crime registry

Highlights include:

Suffolk County legislators have approved a measure to build and maintain a database of people convicted of gun-related crimes that also requires offenders to register with the county.The legislation, sponsored by Legis. DuWayne Gregory (D-Amityville), calls for a registry containing the name, photograph, residence and workplace or school location of anyone convicted of a gun crime…”

Vigil in N. Amityville for victims of violence

Community residents, clergy and elected officials gathered in North Amityville last night for a candlelight vigil in honor of those lost to violence and with hope to unite the community for a peaceful summer. North Amityville Teen Grazed By Bullet

Wyandanch Man Injured After North Amityville Shooting

A Wyndanch man was injured in North Amityville Wednesday afternoon after being shot in the abdomen…was in front of 89 Williams Ave. arguing with four men who were inside a vehicle, when he was shot in the abdomen by one of the men…The suspects fled after the shooting.”

As you can see, plenty of good times can be had in and around my hometown. I really only bring this up because I was looking at a lot of descriptions of Amityville that seemed downright idyllic :)) And it is! Just not North Amityville. If you’re middle-class or better and want a nice place by or even on the water, then what you want is SOUTH Amityville :))


…and when the hell did Newsday put up a paywall?!?!
