How do you put together your poetry books, chapbooks, and projects?

I'm going through my poetry in an attempt to find themes and connective tissue I can use to build projects out of them. It..it's a tedious task. Hundreds of these things stretching across the span of decades, and scattered across websites, devices, notebooks, random slips of paper, USB sticks, etc 😭

Tagging them as I go along so that I can then search specific tags and see what there is to see.

Let them sell themselves to themselves
and we'll pocket
Every single coin that they make
as our profit
Anything that's left, we will take
without conscience
Tell em work harder, ain't no breaks
Dismiss hardship

Always make them think it's their fault
Feed them nonsense
Smooth out and medicate their thoughts
Pills as progress

That's the process
We'll keep them numbed up and dumbed down
Claim their assets
It ain't hard and this ain't profound

It's too easy

They will fight with one another
They will see these
commonalities as Other
Kill their brothers

Give them cheap goods, foster distrust
Their bread and butter
They will hate love and embrace lust
while we conquer

They will fiend — for things they don't need
Numbers on screens
Believe me, you already see

Even as we
poison their earth, poison their seeds
Poison their births
and poison the air that they breathe
Their water, seas
Food that they need, what they believe
Hopes, worth, and dreams

They'll still maintain we are their kings
We, who are thieves

One, two, knowledge, wisdom. Now's the time to put

One, two, knowledge, wisdom. Now's the time to put together what you've learned. Understand,
you know more now, far more than your twelve years here can parse, but wisdom comes of testing
knowledge, seeing what it sparks. That burn might hurt, but it is not a reprimand.
It's how you come to understand these things that plague your intellect's manifesting.
All at once or slowly, you recollect — retrospection teaches, pain's baton conducts.
Now comes the knowing, the effects of actions, and how they affect another's trust
in you, my love. Understand? I'm there, through any hell, whether real or pure construct.

So, I've been trying to write this supernatural smut story. I got my characters (Brimir and Tova); I got some supernatural creatures running around (currently called puppets); I got a, will they or won't they, thing going on with the main characters. But as this is smut, the will they ship has already sailed. It's just kinda...contentious at the moment. I got a mysterious guy with unexplainable abilities and motives moving the supernatural element along. His name is Prova Moralux. He looks like what Hollywood always makes the Devil look like. But, he's not the bad guy. I'm thinking he's more chaotic neutral, maybe, I'm not sure yet.

There's more, I got notes.

Was trying to sleep, but ended up watching this De

Was trying to sleep, but ended up watching this Deadpool & Wolverine movie. I...I really don't know what to think of it. It's an absolutely insane movie, and it's not for people new to any part of the Marvel franchise. The sheer number of easter eggs alone is just nuts.

I would not, in good conscience, recommend this to a newer, casual Marvel fan. A lot of the jokes and whatnot would fly right over their heads. As for the movie itself, Reynolds does what he's been doing and Jackman does what he does 🤷🏿‍♂️ If ya liked em before, you'll like em here.

The plot is about as thin as a 90s supermodel, but it's serviceable. It does what it needs to do to deliver the action and scenes we want to see. I did laugh out loud multiple times, which isn't great cuz the walls where I'm currently staying are paper thin 😭

There's a lot to like or even love for people who have loved these franchises since the beginning, and for people who read X-Men comics way back when. I fit both those categories, so this was a movie for me. People knee-deep into the MCU's multiverse arc can add this to the list of narratives that service it as well.

Came across a bunch of my old junior high and highschool essays and whatnot. I present to you what appears to be a rough draft of a paper I had to do on the Great Gatsby 😅 Teenage me was apparently on one 😂

→ To start off let me just say this. The "American Dream" is an ethereal candy coated piece of chocolate buried under a mountain of like-colored shit. And that's nothing compared to the pursuit of it through the "American Experience."
→ Jay Gatsby's dream is just that, a dream. An American dream at that. That means that before he pursued it he should have somehow acquired an industrial sized shovel to dig through all the shit. He didn't.
→ Gatsby's dream was youth and beauty. To recapture an age and dwell in it eternally. It's sort of similar to the early explorers who found this land. They wanted to recapture a time that had eluded them and dwell in it forever in seclusion and relative religious safety. And both of these are similar to the "American Dream," and that simply put is "the pursuit of happiness." Unfortunately both dreams were corrupted and eventually destroyed by the want of and subsequent accumulation of material wealth.
→ Yes wealth; monetary gain. Gatsby, like most Americans pursuing the "Dream," believed that wealth could solve all problems. He thought that the more he gained the closer he would be to his psychological paradise, his retro Nirvana
→ And I say: "Poor self delusioned Jay, destroyed by a dream of happiness and materialistic gain. Just as the American landscape, people, and Dream is slowly being corroded by the pursuit of tangible wealth, and not the mental happiness and well-being that we should all pursue."
