Victim’s Perspective

She gave him the fire
He screamed; murder in his eyes
Committed slow suicide in between her thighs

She gave him the fire
He cried, but tears can’t wash the burn
He knew the risk, but really, there’s just one sure way to learn

She gave him the fire
At first denial is his friend
Then denial turns to anger when the truth starts to set in

She gave him the fire
And now, he comes to understand
There’s no running, there’s no hiding only one way this could end

She gave me the fire?
He asks in denial
When the anger gives way
To rational thoughts revival

The whys and the hows of
The lies and the cries cause
The truth denied
Ends the life design

She gave him the fire
Burning to end his existence
As his frame melts away
His own thought his only witness

Found thinking of himself in past tenses, he lies listless
Statistics impregnated by the birth of his carnal wishes
Life counted in days, nonoxynol-9 ways to prevent this
But the fire is relentless

She gave him the fire
In more ways than the obvious it burns
The bridges that connect flesh to mental
He learns the song and with it he turns
Dancing to the fires instrumental

Friends become sentimental
Everyday, little by little, he fades away
Days fade to gray

Until nothing replaces the somethings
Of days spent with nothing
To do but hang till the grave gets
Closer and calls in a way that we all feel

Hoping until the life record is broken
But still hoping
Walking until his last breath leaves him choking
But still walking
Till hope and step both falter
His soul is falling
Falling in love with his coffin

She gave him the fire
Turned pleasure into
Deaths burnt offering

And now, he prays

She gave him the fire
He screamed; murder in his eyes
Committed slow suicide in between her thighs

She gave him the fire
He cried, but tears can’t wash the burn
He knew the risk, but really, there’s just one sure way to learn

She gave him the fire
At first denial is his friend
Then denial turns to anger when the truth starts to set in

She gave him the fire
And now he comes to understand
There’s no running, there’s no hiding only one way this could end
